Learning Areas
In addition to the continued progression of the Montessori curriculum, our teachers introduce topics that are much more complex and abstract building upon the students’ concrete base of understanding.
Service
In order to form a connection with the world, students become actively involved in community service programs. By participating in community activities, students demonstrate a commitment of giving. They also become aware of their larger role in society.
Excursions
Through yearly extended field trips, students have direct access to the surrounding world. Middle school students learn that the outside world us within their grasp. By sharing the experience of travel, we encourage students to discover the myriad of different cultures outside of and within our own country. Trips vary by year, but some past examples include our four day sailing journey around the Catalina Islands, and an extended visit to Carson City, our state capitol.
Government
Students from the middle school classes are exposed to a traditionally run student government which encourages an active involvement in school events. Within the government, representatives serve the student body with trips and activities, such as dances, assemblies, and fundraising programs.
