Outdoor Environment
Each classroom has a beautiful outdoor environment created to meet the needs of the children. The outdoor environments are specifically designed by the students who plant a variety of attractive and sweet smelling flowers and plants to maintain an organized and peaceful area. Our environments have plants, such as sunflowers, callilies, basil, tomatoes, and citrus trees bursting from the planter boxes surrounding their areas. Students eagerly participate in caring for the gardens and have child-size tools, such as rakes and shovels which make it possible for them to work freely and peacefully. Along with planting jobs, students also have brooms to learn the practical life job of sweeping, a tree bark with tools for hammering, and a sink for washing dishes. Love and respect for the Earth are undeniable results that stem from this wonderful outdoor learning.
The outdoor environment serves another brilliant purpose by offering our students a place for relaxing during the busy day. Each outdoor environment is equipped with a table where students can choose to work on a project, or simply sit for a break. There are also benches and a variety of areas to take work. In this peaceful atmosphere, students are invited to take some calm time to themselves if they so choose.
