About Montessori Visions Academy
Founded by the desire to offer an education that encourages the development of the whole child, Montessori Visions Academy opened in 1999 as a private school dedicated to the philosophy developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. The principles of Montessori education are the pillars upon which our school proudly stands.
Since our beginning as a primary campus, Montessori Visions Academy has flourished into an elementary and middle school in order to support the rapid growth of our student body. We offer an exemplary education for students from age two through eighth grade. Our classrooms are multi-aged, divided into age groupsof three years, which enable students to work side by side within a diversified community. By placing younger students in classrooms with their seniors, it becomes common for all students to develop a symbiotic relationship of mentoring and respect. In these classrooms, students learn stability as they become established in a comfortable setting. As each student is a unique individual with a distinct background, it is significant to understand that learning methods and abilities will undoubtedly vary from child to child. Thus, the Montessori environment is structured so that it will address the needs of each individual. Students are invited to learn at the pace that suits them without peer competition.
Our school is beautifully designed to create a sense of family within our closely linked community. The spacious classrooms include a peace area, a computer for student use, and an outside garden cultivated and cared for by the students. Our library follows the Dewey Decimal System so that our students are fully prepared to make use of public libraries and research centers. Because physical education contributes so much to the development of the student as a whole, our outside play area allows plenty of space for our children to stretch out their legs.
Each classroom has a carefully prepared environment that seeks to stimulate our students' creativity and academic ability. Within the classroom, students are provided the freedom of choice which consequently fosters a desire to learn. Since they choose their activities throughout the course of the day, students are eager to use the materials. They are not limited to time frames in which they work on a specific subject, but are encouraged to explore the plethora of materials provided inside the classroom. Throughout the day, students study curricular materials and participate in interrelated activities.
Montessori Visions Academy seeks to promote the development of the whole child in order to provide the skills to succeed in the rest of their journeys through life.
